Barilla Prize
Tropheum
2017
‘In the south of Italy where I grew up, Barilla is very special. But more than being the world’s leading pasta manufacturer brand for me, the inspiration came also from the fact that it’s in the imagery of every Italian.’ The prize uses Barilla’s colours: blue and yellow. These 2 colours immediately inspired Antonio and brought him to the colour palette of the Renaissance: blue represents minerality and yellow will be turned into gold. “For Antonio and Barilla, the secret to the most beautiful plate in the world is in its simplicity, elegance, and refinement mixed with the excellence of the ingredients and transcendent technique”.
